Important Adoption Information

Meeting the Cats

All prospective adopters must visit the cat lounge before adopting. This allows you to spend time with the cats and find the best fit for your family.

Pre-Approval

Planning to adopt? We highly recommend completing an adoption application before your visit.

Please note that submitting an application does not guarantee approval or adoption of a specific cat. Applications must be approved before a cat can be placed on hold.

Adoption Counseling

A representative from the rescue organization may contact you by phone or email to discuss the cat's needs, your household, and whether the cat is a good fit for your lifestyle.

Adoption Fees

Adoption fees typically range from $60–$110 and vary by rescue organization. Please verify current fees with the rescue handling your adoption.

Adoption fees are set and collected by the rescue organization and help cover veterinary care and other expenses for the cats.

What's Included?

All adopted cats are:

  • Spayed or neutered
  • Vaccinated
  • Microchipped
  • Dewormed
  • Tested for FIV/FeLV
  • Treated with flea and tick prevention

Adoption Pickups

Adoption pickups are generally scheduled Monday through Friday. Once your application has been approved and all paperwork is complete, you will receive a private phone number used exclusively for adoption pickups. Please call or text this number to schedule your pickup appointment. Texting is preferred.

Adoption pickups must be scheduled in advance. Please do not arrive without a scheduled pickup appointment, as pickup times are coordinated around cat lounge visits, staff availability, and the needs of the cats.

When picking up your new cat, please bring:

  • Adoption paperwork
  • Adoption receipt
  • A secure pet carrier

After Adoption

Bringing home a new cat is an adjustment for both you and your pet. Your rescue organization may follow up after adoption to ensure everyone is settling in well.

If challenges arise, please contact the rescue organization for guidance and support. Rescue organizations welcome adopted cats back if necessary, but all efforts should be made to work through any issues before considering surrender.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Application processing times vary by rescue organization. Most applicants will receive a call or email once their application has been reviewed.

Usually not. Applications must be reviewed and approved by the rescue organization before an adoption can be completed. We encourage prospective adopters to complete an application before visiting.

Exceptions may occasionally be made on a case-by-case basis.

Cats cannot be placed on hold until an adoption application has been approved by the rescue organization.

Because our cats are adoptable, availability can change quickly. Completing an application early increases your chances of adopting a specific cat, but availability cannot be guaranteed.

All adoption applications, approvals, and adoption decisions are handled by the rescue organization caring for the cat.

We recommend having a secure carrier, food and water dishes, a litter box and litter, a scratching post, toys, and a quiet space where your new cat can safely adjust to its new home.

Our cats are currently fed Purina Cat Chow. While you are welcome to transition your cat to a different food, we recommend starting with their current diet and gradually introducing any changes to help avoid digestive upset.
